The first printing press was made by Johannes Gutenburg. He got the idea from the Chinese. He wanted to make a machine that was made up out of reusable metal stamps that could press ink onto paper. He worked with his assistants and was able to make the machine in 20 years. In those 20 years he had to be very secretive about the machine, because he didn't want anyone to steal it.
